Architecture & Design

The SAP professionals at Claricent take a phased approach to the information architecture and design platforms we define and develop for our clients. To give you an idea of the steps we'll take toward making a technology transformation within your organization, we have provided a clear outline of our process below.

Phase 1: Defining the Information Architecture.

  • Assess the Organizational Readiness of taking on an Information Management initiative.

  • Schedule working sessions with organizational stakeholders to further develop the initiative and define your organization's vision for Information Management.

  • Establish the core team of professionals who will create the Information Landscape for the organization.

Phase 2: Developing the Information Landscape.

The information Landscape consists of four deliverables or "Artifacts" which are used by the organization to create the "Transformation Plan." These include:

To-Be Architecture: Establish the "future-state" Information Architecture," or the technology goals and best practices to strive for. This is the "where do we want to be?"

As-Is Architecture: Document the current state of Information Architecture as a means of determining a starting point of the new initiative. This stage represents the "where we are now."

Information Map: Identify what information is available throughout your organization as well as depict the cross-relationships that live within the existing data and link one element of data to the next. One might call this the "how can we get there."

Information Value Chains: Depict the flow of information across and through the enterprise. The information value chains show how your company data is processed and used during the everyday workflow.

Phase 3: Creating the Transformation Plan.

The Transformation Plan details the procedure required for your organization to move from the As-Is Information Architecture to the To-Be Information Architecture. The timeframe of the Transformation Plan generally spans 2-3 years, with the smallest time slice of 6 months. Once completed, the Transformation Plan is used to prioritize corporate projects occurring within your organization.

Key Elements of the Transformation Plan:

Corporate Priorities. The corporate priorities for your organization are identified, documented, prioritized and planned according to the Transformation Plan Time Horizon.

Prioritized Project List. An itinerary of projects is created which supports the Corporate Priorities and fits within the time horizon specified by your company.

Mitigation Plan. Risks, probabilities, impact, and mitigation strategies are documented so as to develop alternate solutions, recovery plans and other possibilities.
